In Between the Lines
Lines are often where an artwork begins — a first gesture, a mark on paper, a movement of thought translated into form.
ā
With In Between the Lines, CaroArtVirtualGallery invites artists to explore the expressive language of line in contemporary works on paper.
ā
This exhibition focuses on the space where meaning emerges between the lines — in pauses, fragments and subtle connections that reveal themselves through mark-making.
Introduction
Lines are often where an artwork begins — a first gesture, a mark on paper, a movement of thought translated into form. A line can be immediate and instinctive, or slow and deliberate. It can follow a rhythm, interrupt it, or dissolve into space.
ā
āWith this Call for Artists 'In Between the Lines', CaroArtVirtualGallery invites artists to explore the expressive language of line in contemporary works on paper.
ā
Drawing is one of the most direct and essential forms of artistic expression. A line can be fragile or bold, intuitive or controlled. It can suggest movement, structure, tension or silence. It can define space — or leave it open. In its simplicity, the line holds an extraordinary capacity to convey complexity.
ā
In this exhibition, the focus lies not only on what is visible, but on what exists in between: the pauses, the fragments, the subtle shifts where meaning begins to emerge. It is in these spaces — where the line hesitates, breaks, repeats or disappears — that a deeper layer of perception unfolds.
ā
Through drawing, printmaking, collage and other line-based practices, artists are invited to explore how line can function as a carrier of thought, emotion and rhythm. Not as a tool of representation alone, but as a language that moves between clarity and ambiguity, structure and openness.
ā
Rather than presenting drawing as a preparatory step, this Call for Artists approaches it as a complete and autonomous form of expression — one that reveals both process and presence. The exhibition invites a slower way of looking, where attention shifts from what is depicted to how it comes into being.
